FILM - Experience the movies (and more) at The Montalban in Hollywood

You have this entire month to enjoy a movie in the fabulous outdoor setting of The Montalban Theatre’s rooftop. From The Motorcycle Diaries to Dirty Dancing, the Rooftop Cinema Club will be a unique way to enjoy film in October, with food and drink available (including beer and wine), comfortable lounge chairs, and earphones to immerse you in the movie by eliminating city noise. I just experienced it last Wednesday, when I watched City of Gold, and I am now an enthusiastic fan of this venue (even though, be advised, the trek up to the rooftop can double as a daily workout).

I was there because The Montalban announced on Wednesday a list of upcoming events that everyone should keep in mind, including the Arena CineLounge PopUp, which for three weeks (starting Sep. 30) will present independent movies at one of the theater’s indoor screens. I also learned that Swan Lake, a new musical love story, performed live by the Hollywood Chamber Orchestra, will be presented on the theater’s main auditorium on Dec. 17, 2016. Here’s a longer list of confirmed upcoming events:

It’d been about five years since I’d visited The Montalban prior to Wednesday, and I must say that the renovated theater looks nothing like what I remembered. It is now gorgeously modern and elegant; I encourage you to check it out. The list of the movies screening on the rooftop can be found on this link, and follow this link to purchase tickets for the Arena CineLounge.

The Montalban is located at 1615 Vine Street in Hollywood, 90028. There’s a parking lot immediately next to it ($13), and the Hollywood/Vine Metro train station is just around the corner.
